“People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.”
I’m sure if I were to ask you about your job you could easily answer these two questions: What do you do? How do you do it? Neither of those two questions takes much thought to answer. But what if I were to ask you the question ‘Why do you do what you do?’ I’m guessing you’d probably need to put a little more thought into your response.
Simon Sinek, a world-renowned inspirational speaker, takes this to a deeper level in what he calls The Golden Circle. Not many people or companies can clearly communicate WHY they do what they do, and Simon shows how the difference between knowing your why and not knowing your why can dramatically impact your results in life.
As the new year begins, it’s a good time to reflect on not just what you’ve achieved, but why you do what you do. Reflecting on your “why” may inspire you to pour yourself into your current passion—or help you discover a new path that aligns more with your purpose.
