Every leader has a unique perspective on management—but have you ever taken the time to articulate yours?
I believe that every manager should have a clear and defined Management Point of View (MPOV). It’s your north star for how you lead, communicate, and create impact. Sharing your MPOV builds trust, fosters alignment, and helps your team understand exactly what you value and expect. Simply by creating your own MPOV, you will get a ton of clarity on your own beliefs and the value you provide as a leader.
So how do you get started? I created a simple, fill-in-the-blank template to guide you. The key areas include:
- Your values: What matters most—like family, health, or personal growth.
- Leadership Style: Your approach to leadership.
- Key terms and tools: The language, frameworks, and processes you rely on.
- Your beliefs: Your guiding principles about leadership, teamwork, and success.
- Expectations: From decision-making to meetings, feedback, and results.
By writing and sharing your MPOV, you clarify your priorities for yourself and your team. This isn’t about perfection; it’s about authenticity. It’s about letting your team know who you are, what you expect, and how they can succeed alongside you.
